The Alaska Science & Engineering Fair is just two months away.
If you will be in the Anchorage Area on March 21st, and would like to help judge science projects, the Alaska Science & Engineering Fair staff and the hundreds of student entrants could really use your help!
I am a regular volunteer at this event and every year I watch kids wait for 2-3 hours (sometimes more) for someone to come and judge their efforts because there are not enough judges to go around. We can have a big impact every year and wait times have dropped measurably in the last 5 years. Just a few hours of your time can make the difference.
Interested? Please join us this year by reserving some time in your schedule on Saturday March 21st , 2015 and responding to this e-mail to volunteer for or to learn more about how you can get involved in this rewarding experience.
Please take note this opportunity is open to all interested parties.
Come spend a few rewarding hours encouraging and recognizing the efforts of students from around the state.
Last year we had a good group showing but I know we can get our numbers up even higher this year. Because of our awesome volunteer team’s flexibility we made it much easier for the organizers to balance the judging workload and really reduce wait times for entrants to be judged. I invite you to come out and help make this year even more successful than the last.
Currently, the location is not fixed, but the event has been held in either the East High School or the Begich Middle School for most (if not all) of the last 9-10 years, so I think it will not be a huge surprise if it is hosted again by one of these two entities.
If you have specific questions, feel free to e-mail or call me.
