Aurora Borealis COA Officers Help to Raise an Estimated $485,000 for the Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation
On March 21, 2015, a team of 11 Public Health Service Officers volunteered as live auction spotters in their Service Dress Blue uniform for the Raven’s Ball. This Ball is an annual fundraising event hosted by the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium to raise money for the Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation. The signature event raised an estimated $485,000 in sponsorships and cash contributions which will be directed toward the unmet health needs of the Alaska Native people and the Alaska Tribal Health System. Aurora Borealis COA Officer’s assistance during the live auction helped raise $120,000 to support Family Birthing Services at the Alaska Native Medical Center. Aurora Borealis COA volunteers included CAPT Jeff Smith, CAPT Marlyn Morgan, CDR Anne Marie Bott, CDR Charissa Williar, LCDR Erin Naber, LT Jessica Thompson, LT Christopher Chong, LT Praveen K.C., LT Madaline Mandap, LTJG Patrick Bloecher and LTJG Deirdre Abellada.
