A massive earthquake of 7.9 Richter scale has hit Nepal on the dark days of April 25, 2015. So far there has been 50 Aftershocks of which 2 were above 6 Richter scale. 20-40% of homes have collapsed or are unlivable whereas 10-20% needs serious repair before people can move in. People are sleeping on roads as they are scared of going back inside their homes. 95% of population does not have clean drinking water and 90% of the people either don’t have power or limited power supply.
My parent are safe, my sister was injured and with grace of god they are alive BUT not everybody were lucky as fatality so far as reported in CNN is 4000 and increasing.
Thousands have been injured, countless have lost home. The survivors are in need of basic humanitarian help like food, water, warm clothes, tent. There are a number of organizations helping but they need fund to support their mission. Nepal is one of the poorest country in World. This poor South Asian Country is home to small population here in Alaska. With Alaska’s history with earthquake most of Alaskan can relate the hardship Nepal is facing at this moment.
Alaska is not only the biggest state of the union but also with people with the biggest heart. This is a helpless situation for people ( Nepalese and foreigner including American) that are trapped in Nepal. I Like to make a personal plea to help my native Country.
