In support of the American Heart Association a group of Officers, civilian and family members created a team named “USPHS Every Body Walk” for the Alaska Heart Run/Walk. There were 6000 participants this year. Some of the PHS team ran the 5k, whereas others walked the event. It was a bright, sunny morning, around 45 degrees, which is warm for Alaska at this time of year! There were 21 participants in the PHS group on race day. Signs that were made for National Walking day were used again for this event to advertise and promote Every Body Walk! Additionally, Officers wore their PHS t-shirts. Overall the walk was a great success, and we hope to grow our team for next year.
