Commissioned Officers,
Hurricane Harvey, a Category 4 storm, has hit the Texas Gulf Coast. In anticipation of the storm’s impact, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Dr. Thomas E. Price, authorized the deployment of the Commissioned Corps in support of the U.S. Government’s public health and medical response efforts.
The Division of Commissioned Corps Personnel and Readiness (DCCPR), Readiness and Deployment Operations Group (RedDOG) is coordinating the deployment of Corps officers and are actively identifying qualified officers for future requests for assistance. RedDOG is working collaboratively with Agency Liaisons to ensure qualified Corps officers are properly vetted and cleared through the proper channels.
As requests for support are made, I strongly urge you to volunteer for this critical deployment. Our greatest need is for healthcare providers to deploy in support of Federal Medical Stations. The citizens of the Gulf Coast will need our assistance.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact RedDOG at RedDOG@hhs.gov.
