Fellow officers,
We have obtained conference attendance approval for 150 officers assigned to Federal programs in IHS to attend the 2018 Commissioned Officer Foundation (COF) Annual Scientific and Training Symposium (Symposium) in Dallas, Texas from June 4-7, 2018, with funding by the Area/HQ Office or local program. With 30% of the total Commissioned Corps force strength, IHS should be well-represented at the Symposium. In addition to earning Continuing Education, the Symposium is a great environment for the exchange of ideas and networking with Corps colleagues and leadership. We are also planning to hold our 2nd Annual IHS Meeting, now tentatively scheduled for June 4th (note this is different than the date stated below and is the latest information). The IHS Meeting will be a great opportunity to interact with Agency leadership, ask questions, express concerns, and discuss the latest Commissioned Corps developments. IHS will also have a booth staffed by the Division of Recruitment and Outreach in the Exhibit Hall.
Below is more information and the process I outlined for Area/Office Directors. Each Area’s process will be locally administered and more information may be forthcoming from your local chain of command. Note that officers being sponsored by a Tribe/Tribal Organization or self-funded to attend the Symposium, are excluded from this process and the 150-officer limit. More information about the Symposium, including registration fees and the agenda may be found at https://www.phscof.org/symposium.html. The Early Bird Registration deadline is April 9, 2018.
I look forward to seeing you at the Symposium. Please feel free to direct questions and comments to IHSCorpsInquiries@ihs.gov.
Thank you,
