Dear Commissioned Corps officers,
Commissioned Corps Headquarters (CCHQ) is excited to announce Remote Area Medical (RAM) events are now coordinated centrally within CCHQ under the Memorandum of Agreement between the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) and RAM. The partnership between the Commissioned Corps and RAM will allow for Commissioned Corps officers to participate in RAM events that provide no-cost dental, vision, medical and health education services for underserved communities. Commissioned Corps officers will now receive fully funded orders from CCHQ and will be given deployment credit if selected for these missions.
We are looking for Commissioned Corps officers to support two upcoming RAM events located in Oklahoma and Texas.
- The Oklahoma event is scheduled for July 13-14 in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Friday, July 12, 2019 is scheduled for event set-up.
- The Texas event will be located in four distinct locations to include San Juan, Mission, Brownsville, and Laredo (each clinic will operate July 22- 26). Friday, July 19 to Sunday, July 21 are scheduled for event set-up at each of these locations.
At this time, there is a potential need for Commissioned Corps officers with the following skill sets:
- Dentists (General Dentists/Oral Surgeons)Dental Hygienists
- Dieticians
- Epidemiologists
- Safety Officers (Engineers/Environmental Health Officers)
- Health Educators (Pharmacists/Health Educators)(topics – HIV and hepatitis B & C)
- Physicians (Internal Medicine/Family Medicine)
- Physician Assistants
- Physical Therapists
- Nurses (Nurse Case Managers, Family Nurse Practitioners, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners)
- Veterinarians
Requirements:
- Be a current Commissioned Corps officer
- Meet Basic Readiness requirements
- Have no adverse actions pending
- Have exceptional COERs
- Prior training and deployment experience preferred
- Spanish-speaking skills are preferred
- Clinicians must be licensed and have at least 80 hours of clinical time in the past 12 months

- SERNO
- CV
- TDY approval letter from their supervisor
- Deployment availability (all dates/date ranges should be submitted)
Officers available in early rotations must submit this information by COB Wednesday, June 19, 2019. Thank you for your attention to this immediate request.
CCHQ may reach out to you for additional information as needed. Please note that you will also be considered for other on-going deployments. As members of a Uniformed Service, Commissioned Corps officers have a duty and responsibility to maintain deployment readiness and to deploy as directed by the Secretary and per Commissioned Corps Deployments Directive (CCD 121.02).
