Good morning Commissioned Officers,
Revisions to Commissioned Corps Instruction (CCI) 511.01, “Awards Program,” CCI 512.01, “Wear of Awards and Badges,” and Personnel Operations Memorandum (POM) 821.14, “Awards Processing,” were approved and released on 25 June 2020. The revised policies and POM are intended to streamline the awards process to assist with decreasing the awards processing time.
The major changes include:
- new narrative format (1 page)
- specific submission deadlines
- updated 2020 nomination forms
- basic readiness standards
Indian Health Service has further enhanced the nomination forms (PHS 6342-1, Unit Nomination and PHS 6342-2 Individual Nomination), standardized opening and closing justification statements and developed a Narrative Guidance with examples to assist nominators with the award process.
