OSG/CCHQ Town Hall Day One Recap

For Official Use Only – Not for Public Release

Dear Public Health Service Officers,

Thank you for joining day one of our Commissioned Corps Town Hall. RADM Schwartz and I sincerely appreciate your questions, engagement, and feedback.

The U.S. Surgeon General, VADM Jerome M. Adams provided today’s opening remarks, announcing an extension on officer readiness reporting until March 31, 2021.

“We recognize that this pandemic has made it difficult for our officers to meet readiness reporting requirements. Today, we will share new readiness guidance to our officers,” said VADM Adams.

Despite the readiness requirement extension, the Surgeon General urged officers to “continue to try to complete their Annual Physical Fitness Test, Basic Life Support renewal, and their Periodic Health Update.”

Along with the readiness updates, the other agenda items covered in today’s Town Hall session included promotions, deployments, and the Ready Reserve.

Please join us again on Thursday, September 24th at 1200 for Part 2 of our two-day Town Hall event.
