Surgeon General Chartered Groups: Community Engagement

***External Email***

Dear Public Health Service Officers,

Along with the rest of our Public Health Service leadership, I want to thank all officers who are involved, directly or indirectly, with the COVID-19 response, as well as your families.

In addition to working on this pandemic, many of you are also doing outreach to communities across the country on behalf of the Surgeon General Chartered Groups. I have asked the Prevention through Active Community Engagement (PACE) team and their Surgeon General Education Teams (SGETs) to coordinate and track community events for all Surgeon General Chartered Groups. Community engagement activity data will provide us with a snapshot of what some of our officers are doing to improve the nation’s health. It will also give us the data we need to uplift the work our officers are doing in their communities.

Surgeon General chartered groups should contact the PACE team if they are interested in planning a public health community engagement. Public Health Service officers who are interested in joining a Surgeon General chartered group should go to the following website for more information – https://dcp.psc.gov/osg/.

Public Health Service officers who are not part of a Surgeon General chartered group should follow their respective Agency’s guidance regarding planning or participating in community engagements.

Please contact OSGPaceTeam@hhs.gov if you have any questions regarding the PACE teams and/or the SGETs.

Thank you for all that you do to protect the health and safety of our nation.

Jerome Adams, MD, MPH

VADM, USPHS

U.S. Surgeon General
