In response to the recently conducted COA survey, it has been drawn to the attention of the association that many officers are involved throughout the community apart from COA sponsored events. As the new Community Outreach Lead, I would like to extend the opportunity for you to obtain formal COA recognition for your efforts pending that charity/volunteer work meets basic requirements (see listed criteria below). The goals for obtaining this feedback regarding personal volunteer efforts throughout the community are to 1) help demonstrate widespread COA involvement/impact, 2) increase opportunities for future involvement, 3) increase diversity, 4) increase personal interest in provided volunteer work, and 5) provide formal COA recognition.
Criteria for COA volunteer consideration:
– Must be free from direct proselytization
– Organizational affiliation should be “non-profit”
If you feel current volunteer work meets the basic criteria for consideration, please respond via email providing the following:
(1) a brief summary of involvement
(2) confirmation that organization is listed as “non-profit”
(3) contact information for person in charge of charity/organization/event
If you are looking for other ways to increase personal community involvement, please consider the following websites:

One quick reminder: In order to obtain a formal COA letter of appreciation one-half of all COA meetings must be attended either (1) in person, (2) via teleconference, or (3) by proxy.
Thank you all for the remarkable work that you do throughout the community while demonstrating all the positive qualities of a USPHS officer!
Sincerely,
Darrell R. Acheson, PharmD, BCPS, NCPS
