Volunteers needed for Science Fair March 25th

The Alaska Science and Engineering Fair (ASEF) is an Intel ISEF-Affiliated science fair that consists of K-12 students throughout all of Alaska.  Students are invited to enter a science, engineering, computer science, or mathematics related project in the fair.  It is not necessary to win or even participate in other local school fairs prior to entering the state-wide ASEF.  Every K-12 student from Alaska is welcome at this event!

Due to the large number of students, ASEF is in need of volunteers that can help judge science projects as it is not uncommon for many kids to have to wait for 2-3 hours (sometimes more) for someone to come by and assess their work.  ASEF can really use our help!  Due to our amazing flexibility we are able to help organizers balance the judging workload.  By becoming a judge we can have a major impact helping to decrease the overall wait times for students while additionally providing some much needed support and encouragement to some of our best and brightest from around the state.  Just a few hours of our time can make a significant difference!

For those who are veterans, the link to register directly with the event is: https://www.alaskasciencefair.org/events/science-fair-2016/87-registration/117-registrationstart.html.  Organizers prefer registration to be done directly in order to help speed up coordination efforts the morning of judging.  If registering directly, please remember to still respond to this e-mail so the volunteer list can be updated and letters of appreciation sent for your efforts.

If joining for the first time, many of your questions can be answered at the following site:  https://www.alaskasciencefair.org/judges-volunteers/information-for-judges.html.  If any of your questions are not specifically addressed, or remain unanswered, please contact CAPT Michael MarcAurele and he can provide you with the answers.

For those interested in taking up the call to participate this year as a judge (not restricted to COA members), please reply directly to this email or contact CAPT Michael MarcAurele for any additional questions at MMarcAur@anthc.org.

Thank you in advance for taking up the call to help make this year’s event the most successful event yet!
