FY 2018 HHS Green Champion Awards
Are you a Green Champion? Do you have what it takes to stand up for the environment? The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Green Champions are those individuals who take on the challenge of reducing energy use, saving natural resources, and minimizing the carbon footprint of the federal government. These groups and individuals are supporters of the Go Green Get Healthy HHS movement which calls on everyone to do their part with incorporating sustainable practices into their daily routine. The sustainable practices which the agency is regularly engaged in are the primary activities that maintain the quality of the environment we occupy. If you have accepted the challenge, then you may be one of the next HHS Green Champions!
Sustainability is directly linked to the health of humans, the health of the environment, and the health of economic systems that support and promote our well-being. This triple bottom line — human health, environmental health, and economic health — is integral to HHS’ mission. Through the 12th annual HHS Green Champion Awards, HHS honors federal employees and Native American tribal members, small groups, and projects or programs that demonstrate measureable results towards integrating sustainability principles into the HHS mission and its daily operations.
As we continue to expand our agency’s sustainability efforts in support of Executive Order 13834 and the HHS Sustainability Report and Implementation Plan, we are pleased to inform all HHS employees about the FY 2018 HHS Green Champion Awards.
All HHS employees are welcome to nominate themselves, a fellow colleague, a small group, a project, or program for this prestigious award. The following link provides detailed information, instructions, and a blank template that you can use to submit the final application.
