Subject: Action: Protecting Children from Provider Sexual Abuse LMS Training – due by 9-30-2020
IHS Team:
The Indian Health Service is committed to providing a safe, professional, and culturally appropriate environment to ensure protection of our patients and prevent their harm to the best of our ability, especially children. The IHS has taken aggressive actions to protect patients and sexual assault and abuse will not be tolerated. This message is to inform you that all IHS employees, contractors, and volunteers are required to complete “Protecting Children from Provider Sexual Abuse” training course by Wednesday, September 30, 2020. The one-hour course is available on the HHS Learning Management System (LMS) and it is posted at IHS Sexual Abuse Prevention website for those who do not have access to the IHS computer network, like contractors, volunteers, or IHS employees with IPAs or MOAs to tribal organizations. You have been registered for the course and should have received an LMS confirmation registration email from userone@saba.com on August 12, 2020. If you cannot find the email or have deleted it, simply log into LMS to either find your registration under Learning then Current Learning or search for “Protecting Children from Sexual Abuse by Health Care Providers” (00208179).
This training covers the IHS Indian Health Manual Part 3 Chapter 20 policy that provides professional standards and guidance to protect against sexual abuse or exploitation of children by health care providers. The training covers what all IHS staff need to know about their critical role in preventing sexual abuse of children. This is an annual training requirement, and we have worked diligently to improve on the training from last year.
IHS is required to record and report compliance with this training requirement. All managers and supervisors are responsible for ensuring their employees complete the training. The Headquarters Office of Human Resources and Area Directors will use data from the HHS LMS to verify compliance with this requirement. The email you received may have stated the deadline as 2019; we apologize for this error. The deadline to complete training is September 30, 2020.
If you need assistance with accessing “Protecting Children from Provider Sexual Abuse” training course in the LMS, contact the IHS LMS Administrator at: IHSLMSAdministrators@ihs.gov
Your timely completion of this critical training course is appreciated. Please do not delay in completing it. This notification may be a duplicate, but we must ensure that all employees, contractors, and volunteers receive it.
Thank you for all you do each and every day to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest level.
Highest regards,
Brandon
