Fellow Junior Officers,
The Readiness and Deployment Committee’s Annual Physical Fitness Test (APFT) Team would like to introduce the APFT Training Guide published September 2020. The purpose of the APFT training guide is to help Commissioned Corps Officers complete & pass their APFT as well as maintain good physical condition for deployments and general health.
The APFT guide contains: adult physical activity recommendations (30-60 minutes of exercise, 5x days a week); Best Practices & Training Guidance, where information is provided on goal-setting and safety practices during exercise; and Activity Guidelines (dynamic warm-up, physical training session, cool-down and stretching). The APFT guide also contains images of correct form to perform the push-ups, plank/side-plank, sit-ups and the toe-touch.
We encourage all officers to perform their APFT in a timely manner and maintain their health & fitness as a requirement of a Commissioned Corps Officer.
The APFT training guide has been attached for your convenience and can also be located:
- Behind the Officer Secure Area, click on the “Commissioned Corps Modernization” tab on the left side column
- Click on the first bullet point, “Presentations and Resources”
- Click on “USPHS Annual Physical Fitness Test Training Guide” PDF
Please feel free to contact The R&D Committee APFT Team co-leads: LCDR Stetson Schmitt (s1schmitt@bop.gov) and LT Samora Casimir (csamora0105@gmail.com) with have any questions and/or concerns.
