The 2021 Alaska Science & Engineering Fair is just about 4 weeks away.
If you will be in the Anchorage Area on March 26-28th, and would like to help judge science projects, the Alaska Science & Engineering Fair staff and the hundreds of student entrants could really use your help! The event will be virtual again this year.
I have been a regular volunteer at this event for a number of years and have seen kids wait for 1-3 hours (sometimes more) for someone to come and judge their efforts because there were not enough judges to go around. We have had a big impact for many years and wait times have dropped significantly since then. Just a few hours of your time can make the difference.
Interested? Please join us this year by reserving some time in your schedule on March 26-28h , 2021 and responding to this e-mail to volunteer for or to learn more about how you can get involved in this rewarding experience.
Please take note this opportunity is open to all interested parties (not only COA members). Also, don’t let the word “Engineering” in the event title scare you off. There is a much greater need for people in science-related professions than just Engineers. The number of “Engineering” category projects is actually quite small. Come down and help us find the best Public Health related projects!
You can register directly for this event at: https://alaskasciencefair.org/teachers-mentors/information-for-judges/ and the organizers prefer us to register directly with them to speed up the coordination on the morning of the judging, but please remember to respond to this e-mail as well so I can keep my list up to date and can coordinate letters of appreciation for the group.
If you will be joining us for the first time, many of your questions will be answered at the page listed in the previous paragraph. If you have questions not covered there, I might be able to fill in the gaps for you.
Come spend a few rewarding hours encouraging and recognizing the efforts of interesting students from around the state.
Because of our awesome volunteer team’s flexibility we make it much easier for the organizers to balance the judging workload and really reduce wait times for entrants to be judged. I invite you to come out and help make this year even more successful than the last.
If you have specific questions not covered in this e-mail or the referenced websites, feel free to e-mail or call me.
Respectfully,
