Introducing the Officer Promotion Package Verification System (OPPVS)

For Official Use Only – Not for Public Release

Dear Public Health Service Officers,

Commissioned Corps Headquarters (CCHQ) is continuously evaluating programs to meet the mission of our service and to better serve our officers.

CCHQ is excited to introduce the new Officer Promotion Package Verification System (OPPVS). The OPPVS will be released later this fall on September 1, 2021. The purpose of OPPVS is to standardize the promotion process and provide officers the opportunity to have full visibility of their promotion packages.

The OPPVS is launching in Promotion Year (PY) 2022. It is intended to give Public Health Service officers, in the promotion eligible cohort, full visibility of their promotion packages. Public Health Service officers will be able to view, update, and verify the exact package that will be presented to the board members for review. Once launched, OPPVS will only be open to officers in the promotion eligibility cohort for that respective year, PY2022

All Public Health Service officers are highly encouraged to explore and familiarize themselves with the new OPPVS program. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) have been made available to officers on the Commissioned Corps Management Information System (CCMIS) and a webinar is available for officers to view on the Learning Management System (LMS).

It is our vision that this new modernization effort will help standardize the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps promotion process.

Please direct all IT and access issues to the Commissioned Corps Help Desk at cchelpdesk@hhs.gov.

For OPPVS specific questions and concerns, please contact your Agency Liaison.

Respectfully,

Susan M. Orsega
