Dear COA Member,
Taking place during National Public Health Week, the 2022 Public Health Research at Maryland (PHRM) event will again be co-organized by the School of Public Health and the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine but will be hosted virtually by the School of Medicine.
This year, we are honored to welcome Dr. Joseph Wright and Dr. Roderick King, both from the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), as co-keynote speakers at the ninth annual PHRM Conference. As key leaders at UMMS, they are focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion and on health equity. During the co-keynote conversation, they will share their insights and expertise about these essential values and how they align with public health. The conversation will also delve into potential ways to align and complement current and future efforts in these areas as we all work “locally” for a global impact.
We will also have three panels (on community engagement across the state, health literacy and global learning for health equity) and an opportunity to view a student poster gallery featuring select research from across Maryland academic institutions.
View additional details about the PHRM 2022 schedule.

SPH Research, Practice and Innovation Poster Session
Students, faculty and community partners are invited to share innovations and new research directions at the SPH Research, Practice and Innovation Poster Session. This annual event is taking place at the School of Public Health this year and is an opportunity to learn more about new and ongoing public health projects related to research, practice and innovation throughout our region. Faculty, undergraduate and graduate students throughout the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Maryland, Baltimore campuses may submit posters to present and discuss at the event and to be part of the student poster competition.
NOTE: The deadline for poster submission is March 31, 2022
As in the past, posters may include research projects as well as public health practice projects. Only student presented posters will be judged in the competition.
This year’s competition judging is led by Professor Dina Borzekowski in her role as the Director of Student Research for the Delta Omega Gamma Zeta Chapter leadership team.
*New in 2022, we are adding a poster category and prize for “Innovative Solutions to Public Health Challenges” and for Research on Health Disparities, in memory of Mitchell Stewart (son of SPH staff member Cynthia Kershaw). |
