Commissioned Corps Awards Overview – 2023
This section has been prepared to help officers become better informed about the Commissioned Corps awards process and to assist you with the procedures and criteria for appropriate and timely recognition for noteworthy achievements. The new Awards Process Presentation 2020 describes some common problems that occur, offers possible solutions, and provides recommendations for the successful completion of an award nomination.

The Alaska Area Commissioned Corps Awards Board meets the last Friday of every month. Nomination packages received by the 10th of the month will be reviewed in the same month.
The award cover sheet must be signed by the nominator and 1st line supervisor prior to submission.
All award nominations must be submitted by the nominator. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
The nomination package includes:
- IHS Narrative Guidance
- FORM PHS 6342-1 Unit Awards Feb 2021
- FORM PHS-6342-2 Individual Awards Feb 2021
- STANDARD OPEN_CLOSING STATEMENTS
- Listing of Team Members (As appropriate)
